Joey Pearson

Owner

Joey has been a personal trainer for over 10 years, and has conducted thousands of personal training sessions. He holds the prestigious ISSA certifications as Certified Personal Trainer, as well as Specialist in Fitness Nutrition. He practices what he preaches, and is a competitor in Men’s Physique competitions. Some of his clients have also gone on past their original goals, and participated in competitions themselves – and won! When he is not at the gym training, he enjoys spending time with his family, preferably enjoying the great outdoors!

KJ Papuga is an ACE certified personal trainer. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University with a degree in Marketing (GO NOLES!). KJ has competed and won women’s figure competitions. She is an avid Spartan racer, competing in all levels of races. She enjoys staying in competition shape all year long and is a fanatically clean eater. She gets great satisfaction out of pushing her clients to their limits and loves seeing them accomplish things they didn’t know they could. KJ currently manages Pearson Fitness and does group and personal training.

When I was 15 years-old I helped a friend lose a bunch of weight and get healthy. The feeling of appreciation I received from him was amazing, and I knew what I wanted to do in life… to help people get healthy and stay healthy. So after graduating from Mandarin High School I went to the University of Florida and got my degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences. Before I graduated, I also earned my personal training certification through the NSCA; National Strength and Conditioning Association. I believe 100% that movement helps cure a lot of aches and pains. Also, anyone can do anything they put their mind to. There is no quit in anyone of us if we believe in ourselves!!.

Henry is a graduate of East Tennessee State University where he studied Sports Science at a Graduate level. Henry has been involved in working with many different types of Athletes as well as Corporate Wellness. Henry’s experience ranges from working with athletic programs at a Grassroots level to Professional athletes. His athletic background ranges from Rugby, Track and Field, Olympic Weight lifting and Collegiate football. Currently, Henry places strong interests in Exercise Physiology, Strength/ Power adaptations to resistance training and sport specific training programming. He has devoted his passion to enhancing performance and tailoring your workout to be an experience.

I have been a client of Joey’s since 2010 and with his guidance and motivation, I have made positive changes and have met many goals.

Several times over the past year, Joey has asked me to think about becoming a trainer. Now that both of my daughters are in college, I felt it was the perfect time. With my love of fitness, being in the gym and interacting with people, training feels like a natural progression in this next phase of my life.
It’s a great feeling to see a client push themselves farther than they thought they could, getting a high-five or a hug at the end of a session and seeing the look of accomplishment on that client’s face.
I am definitely doing what I love and there isn’t a better place to do it than here at Pearson Fitness.

Hello, I’m Tyler! I am a certified personal trainer through ACE, and I love helping people along their journey to getting results. Whether it’s losing body fat, gaining a little bit of muscle, getting faster or stronger; I am passionate about helping you get there! Outside of training, I work in full-time ministry with a local Jacksonville church. When I’m not working, I love being in the gym striving to reach my own goals, playing golf or simply eating some good food!

Ken Duong

Ken is a Jacksonville native who attended the University of North Florida, graduating with a degree in Finance, working as a wealth management advisor for Merrill Lynch in Ponte Vedra for 3 years before transitioning to the fitness industry. Ken is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and focuses on mobility, stretching and functional training to make everyday life much simpler and more enjoyable. He believes in prehabbing the body, striving to be the best person you can be and getting better everyday, even if it’s just an incremental change. In Ken’s free time, he loves to travel (26 countries so far!), working out and stuffing his face with food, particularly sweets! 🙂

Phil Senich

Phil earned his NASM personal training certification in 2014 and served as Director of Fitness and Aquatics at a local country club prior to joining Pearson Fitness.

Phil preaches and teaches his clients to not focus only short term achievements through fitness but to adapt long-term lifestyle changes through both fitness and nutrition. “Everything in moderation, including moderation” is a popular statement that Phil makes as he makes his way around the fitness center.

From one-on-one personal training to youth training to high intensity group fitness classes, Phil makes it a point to make training fun and enjoyable.

Maverick

The original Pearson Fitness Mascot! He has a chill personality and when he gets to visit the gym, he typically works as a Greeter and provides overall encouragement and joy to all he meets.

Axle

Maverick’s “Little” Brother! Axle is more like a 3-foot-tall ping pong ball bouncing around. He doesn’t get to the gym much these days, but when he does get to visit he loves to play.
